Futsal 5s is the most popular winter futsal league in the Hampton Roads area. Sanctioned by US Club Soccer, Futsal 5s uses licensed futsal referees and follows closely to official futsal rules. We are excited to host Futsal 5s in the premier futsal-only facility in the region. Futsal 5s is available to any U7 (2017) - U19 (2005) age teams regardless of club affiliation.
Please complete this FORM if you are a player who wishes to play Futsal 5's this winter and you are in search of a team. While we are hopeful to place all players, we CANNOT guarantee placement.
The Studio Center Futsal Arena houses two state-of-the-art futsal courts with dimensions of 107'x61'. To keep the playing surfaces clean and dry, please instruct your players not to wear dirty or wet game shoes into the facilities. The wearing of shin guards will be mandatory for all players. Indoor, flat soled soccer shoes also must be worn. Shoes must have non-marking soles.

Cost per player
$125 per person. This fee includes Head Coach's card fee plus a mandated coach’s background check. Players not registered with US Club Soccer will find information on how to register upon checkout ($10 additional fee).
How To Register
HEAD COACHES MUST COMPLETE THE TEAM REGISTRATION FIRST IN PLAYMETRICS, AND THEN SHARE THE TEAM CODE WITH HIS/HER TEAM IN ORDER FOR EACH PLAYER TO REGISTER AND PAY INDIVIDUALLY
Players who are invited into the VB Futsal Select program do not need to register for Futsal 5s.
Only 130 teams will be accepted so please apply quickly to guarantee acceptance.
THERE ARE NO GUEST PLAYERS ALLOWED IN FUTSAL 5s. All participating players must be rostered. Players may be added to rosters up to roster freeze date before playoff games.
A sister team is created from an outdoor team that is split into two or more futsal teams. If you have a sister team in the league, you may borrow players from the sister team(s) during regular season play under conditions listed below.
NEW - Sister teams must be verified by providing a copy of the outdoor roster that the sister teams have come from. There may be only ONE additional player on a futsal roster who is not part of the outdoor team. Outdoor rosters can be uploaded during registration.
You may only use a sister team player to bring your roster to 6 players including a goalkeeper. Goalkeepers may play for the sister team regardless of players available. However, if the sister team has more than 6 players, the goalkeeper must always play in goal when on the court for the sister team.
Rosters are frozen during playoffs. Players cannot use sister team players, except for a goalkeeper who must play in goal.
A sister team player cannot be ‘activated’ once the game starts.
Players may be double - rostered on teams that are in different divisions, but cannot play down an age group.
There is no coaching license to coach a team. One adult who is registered with the team as a coach can sit the bench. This is a great option for teams with outdoor coaches who want to take a break, but still want their teams to have fun and play. Each coach must undergo a background check that is included in the registration fee.
One additional coach may sit on the bench but must purchase a $25 background check to be added to the roster. Please contact Mark at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like an extra coach on the bench.
We will accommodate coaches with multiple teams by attempting to schedule them with back-to-back games as much as possible. We have been very successful in the past, so you are encouraged to split your outdoor teams into two futsal teams, and we will make every effort to schedule your games back to back, however, there may be an occasional gap (one hour) between games if there are multiple sister teams in a bracket.
If you coach more than two teams and need to be at all the games, please indicate that specifically in the comments section on your team's detail page. We will make every attempt to accommodate this request (coaching more than two teams), however, due to various factors this may not always be possible.
At time of registration, each team is allowed one opt-out weekend if entered into registration system before registration deadline. If manager does not enter conflicts, no reschedules are guaranteed for any reason.
Since 2012, we have attempted to reschedule games due to different circumstances but as the league grows it becomes a greater challenge to reschedule games that were not initially listed on a conflict date.
COMPETITION FORMAT & RULES
Official futsal FIFA Rules and Regulations as stated under the Laws of The Game will be enforced. Exceptions are noted below under House Rules.
There will be no heading between teams that contain any players that are 2013 birth year or younger (unless prior approval is received).
VB Futsal will provide the game ball and warm up ball. Only futsal balls are allowed in the facility.
Size ball used by each age group: Under U12 - size 3 ; U13 and older – size 4
The age bracket of the oldest team in the division will determine the size of the futsal ball in accordance to the guidelines above.
The determination within the group standings is as follows:
3 points for a win
1 point for a tie
0 points for a loss
Forfeited games are recorded as a 3 - 0 loss for the forfeiting team.
1. Total Points
2. Goal Difference (max 10 per game)
3. Goals For
4. Goals Against
6. Flip of a coin
We use only US Soccer futsal - certified officials to call our games, assuring the game is played the way it should. We use 2 experienced officials per court for U16 and older age groups.
If a team fails to show for a scheduled match, the referee shall allow a 5-minute grace period. After the 5 minutes, if the team has not yet arrived or does not have enough players to field a team (4), the game will be forfeited. The game will be tallied as a 3 to 0 loss for the forfeiting team and a 3 to 0 win for their opponent. The other team may use the scheduled game time for their use. There are no refunds for games cancelled by opponents. If a team must cancel, call the Futsal 5s administrator as soon as possible so we can notify the referees and give the other team a chance to plan accordingly. Cancelling a game not only short-changes your team, but your scheduled opponent.
If the referee terminates a match for reasons other than an act of God or field conditions, the Futsal 5s Competition Committee will decide the result of the match after hearing the official reason from the referee, and both coaches. Teams forfeiting a match and the opponent of a team that forfeited will not receive a refund on their registration fee.
The minimum penalty for an ejection is that the player shall not be permitted to play in the immediate next match of play. If the player is rostered on two teams and has a scheduled match on the same day after the red card, the player is ineligible to play in that game. If the player who received the red card, does not have another match that day, then the player must sit out the next immediate scheduled match. The League, in consultation with the Head Referee, will then decide if the player or coach will sit out an additional game(s) the following week. The player or coach receiving the red card must sit out a minimum of one game.
If a coach is ejected from any match, a referee’s report of the incident shall be turned over to the League administrator by the referee. The minimum penalty for an ejection is that the coach shall not be permitted to coach, remain on the player’s bench, or in the facility in the immediate next match. The maximum penalty, after review by the Competition Committee, may result in the individual coach or team’s expulsion from the League.
Tentative divisions will be shared with coaches towards the end of November.
Once divisions are confirmed, we will start to build the schedule. We plan on having the schedule finalized the week prior to the first game on December 8, 2023.
There will be the ability for coaches to choose ONE opt-out date during the season on a weekend when players may be missing. We will send information on this closer to the start of the season.
Other than an opt-out date, once the schedule is published there are no changes allowed. The published schedule is FINAL.
